The Concept of Workload

• Breakable if H(K)/(|M|-H(M)) <= 1

  • But not broken!

• To actually break a message - or a key - it takes doing a series of operations

• All Shannon proved is that it is doable

• He developed the concept of workload to indicate how hard it might be to actually do it
